My oh my, it's been quite a while...
As usual I've been up to much of what I was up to the first semester of college: classes, homework, softball, and the squeezing in of social time; in between all that I try to eat and sleep as much as possible.
The softball season is soon approaching and our team leaves for the Snow Bird Tournament in Mrytle Beach, SC on the 27th of February. Personally I am completely drained mentally, emotionally, and physically from all that softball demands of me, but I'm so grateful for all the benefits I am receiving from being involved in it that I'm afraid I won't be giving it up anytime soon. <3>
Part of the perks that come with playing a sport on the collegiate level (especially when your coach has multiple connections) is the products/equipment that you get for free or a high discount from the original price. My two favorites so far have been mitts that were donated to team by the leading softball and baseball company Mizuno and the red Nike metal cleats that our team will be sporting.
After my miserable bout was over, I left for the weekend with my friends Catherine and Adora to Cat's house (she hates that nick name, but unfortunately it has stuck with a lot of people). She has and indoor pool and hot tub, which we took full advantage of. (Well, I stayed in the hot tub, I didn't want the chlorine still getting in my swollen and puss ridden throat) But let me tell you, that weekend after being stuck in my dorm room practically all week was quite the blessing. Besides just getting away from college and campus, it was so wonderful to spend time with a family, even if not my own. (The picture is from an all nighter that Adora, Catherine, and I pulled right before break the first semester...you can tell, we have good times together.) This semester, I spend a lot of time up in Catherine and Andrea's room hanging out with not only them (having 'homework' parties) but as well as some of the basketball team inclu
ding Junga, Frac, Adora...and anyone else who wanders up.
In other softball news, we just held our last team fundraiser before we leave for our trip. We rented a few lanes at a bowling alley on Friday the 13th and had a Conco bowling event, we had over 50 people (more than we were planning on) and it ended up being a major hit. This is some of my team. From left to right is: Laura, Breannea, Lindsay, Me, Katie, Danielle, and Jenny. I chilled for the most part, helping coach take care of the registration and raffle money, but I took three bowling turns and on one of them I threw a strike, lol, so I guess it was a pretty sucessful night.
Let's see, what else has been conusming my moments....
About two weeks ago I was struck with sickness, a case of Pharyngitis. I tried to fight it off by myself in the beginning, but to no avail. I went to the doctor for mediccation and then I spent the next two days in bed, drained of all energy. I ended up not attending my individual workouts with my coach, two practices, and a day and a half of classes...it kind of set me back, but I'm back up to speed and for the most part caught up now.

ious items. (The highlight is when Jeni's 'starbucks hottie' is working, we rarely ever have to pay. One night after stopping for coffee, we went to the mall to visit Hot Topic so that I could replace my gaged earing in my left cartilage that I had lost when my helmet was smoked off in a softball scrimmage. We went through Sears and we found quite the hilarious looking oversized stuffed animals in a Charlotte's Web display. Jeni tried to make the pigs look cuter by squatting beside them, and I sidled over to the horses to suffice while I am away from my own back home.
Hmm...I trying to think of anything really interesting that I've done or that has happened to me, but I can't quite recall... Oh well, seeing as it was Valentine's Day yesterday, I guess I'll tell you what I did. I made Valentine's cards for one, for both people here and at home (which made me happy and content while I was creating them). I spent the first part of the day, playing a softball scrimmage, lifting weights, and then working admissions at the varsity boys' home basketball game. (Oh funny story... Coach Young was in her office. Her daughter Layla was playing with the children of another coach and JoJo was sleeping in another office -by the way her kids are complete dolls and the whole team loves playing with them - ...going on, JoJo woke up crying wanting her Mommy. I couldn't leave the money box and Coach was in her office, so I picked her up and calmed her down, she laid down in my arms across my shoulder for about the next half hour. So I was standing there rocking back and forth while watching the game. I receive a txt from Rocko (whom I've mentioned before a big teddy bear who's pretty fun to hang out with most of the time) which asks jokingly if that's my kid. Then he goes on to tell me that I look good, like a hot mom...geeze la weeze, the silly boy, just what a 19 year old girl wants to hear, that she looks like a hot mom...I started thinking of myself driving around a bunch of kids to soccer in a mini van) Okay...maybe it wasn't the funniest story ever, but seeing as I don't have much to work with, it made me laugh.
Anyway, neither Jeni or I had major plans for the romantic deemed day so we decided to go to the movie, "He's Just Not That Into You". It was quite fun and the movie was very truthful in parts and made us both laugh. Rocko, Austin, and Zach asked us to go to a movie with them, but we were already at the movie theaters and they were thinking of going to the same one, so we took a rain check. After that, we came home....and basically went to bed. I was so tired I konked out and I didn't set my alarm (for the first time since I've been back, I just decided to sleep in and not wake up at a certain time). Needless to say, I slept in till 12:00p.m. and it felt oh so good.
But I'm on a productive run now, took a shower first thing, took out the trash, cleaned up my side of the room, opened the curtains to let the sunshine in, and now I will be settling down to try and conquer a stack of homework.... wish me luck!
